In a weird and bizarre occurrence, a fraudster from Gujarat was discovered posing as a senior PMO official.
The fake Kiran Patel had even been to Jammu and Kashmir, allegedly to investigate prospective sites for new hotels to be built there. According to the Hindustan Times, he was granted high-level Z-plus security cover, provided with a bulletproof SUV, and accommodated at a luxurious five-star hotel during his stay in Jammu and Kashmir.

This was Patel’s third visit to the valley, and he was arrested on March 3 by security officials who had become suspicious of his activities. The fraudster was produced before a court in Srinagar for an extension of his police remand.
On March 2, a complaint was filed against him under the pertinent provisions of cheating and forgery, and the following day, he was brought into the jail. Since then, he has become a trending topic of discussion, with many trying to find out who he really is. So, here’s what we know about him:

Kiran Patel is an Indian conman. He has been in the news because he was recently jailed for duping Jammu and Kashmir authorities.
His real name was Kiran Bhai Patel. He is from Ghodasar, Ahmedabad, Gujarat. His father’s name is Juddesh Bhai Patel.
Kiran Patel’s Twitter bio boasts a Ph.D. from Commonwealth University, Virginia, an MBA from IIM Trichy, an M Tech in Computer Science, and a BE in computer engineering. He also claims to be a thinker, strategist, analyst, and campaign manager.
He is married to Malini Patel, who identifies herself as a doctor. Reportedly, they are both the parents of two daughters. According to his wife, her husband is an engineer.
Malini told the media that her husband went to Kashmir for development work as he is an engineer, and he has done nothing unlawful.
