Malika Advani is set to be the auctioneer of the WPL auction in 2023

The auction will be run on Monday by Malika Advani, a partner in the Art India Consultants organisation and a Mumbai-based art consultant for Modern and Contemporary Indian art.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has appointed a female auctioneer to conduct the auction, which is slated to begin on Monday, February 13, at 2.30 PM IST, ahead of the eagerly anticipated debut of the Women’s Premier League (WPL).

Auction time, schedule and strategy

The BCCI will hold a pre-auction meeting for the franchises on February 12 at 8 PM. Additionally, the board has announced that there would be hourly strategy breaks during the auction. Franchises will be given 10 minutes at regular times to review their strategies.

“There may (at the Auctioneer’s discretion) be a brief intermission following the completion of each set to give franchises some opportunity to rethink their strategies.” The BCCI notice was quoted by Cricbuzz as saying, “The length of each break will be declared by the Auctioneer after the relevant set.”

“After each break, a bell will sound two minutes before the Player Auction resumes. After each break, the Player Auction will immediately resume. It is envisaged that during each hour of the Player Auction proceedings, these brief breaks would last a minimum of 10 minutes “The BCCI note came to an end.

The auction for 409 players will take place on February 13th.

From the list of 1,525 cricketers who registered for the WPL auction, 409 players were cut in the weeks before the big day. 246 Indians are participating in the auction, compared to 163 participants from other countries, eight of which are from associate countries.

Additionally, the teams can have between 15 and 18 players in total to make up the team. Each team is permitted to include up to six foreign players. The competition will be played at the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai and the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai from March 4 and March 26.
