A young artist has accused Baburaj of s*xually abusing her in 2019 at his house in Aluva, Kerala, following the publication of the Hema Committee findings. On the other hand, Baburaj refuted the charges and claimed collusion. In voicing her opinions, Shwetha Menon asked Baburaj to step down from his role as an office bearer. She said that regardless of seniority, those who are accused of such things should resign.

On March 5, 1966, Baburaj Jacob was born into the Christian family of P. J. Jacob Oleekkal and T. I. Karmali Thottungal. The 58 year old has a height of 5 feet 9 inches. Baburaj had two marriages. From his first marriage, he has two sons, Abhay and Akshay.
Actor Baburaj’s son Abhay Baburaj got married to Gladys Maryam a fashion designer back in 2023 and only close relatives and friends attended the marriage. The identity of Baburaj’s first wife isn’t known but she is believed to come from a poor family.

Baburaj career
58-year-old Baburaj was a junior artist when he began his acting career. In his Cochin Haneefa-directed Malayalam debut, Beeshmacharyar (1994), he portrayed a known villain. In addition, he played a villain in the 2004 Hindi film Hulchul, a reimagining of the 1991 Malayalam hit film Godfather.
He produced one Tamil film and four Malayalam films. He performed in a humorous part in Aashiq Abu’s film Salt N’ Pepper in 2011. He rose to prominence in Malayalam cinema with this comedic role in Salt N’ Pepper. After Salt N’ Pepper’s success, he played a major role in the criminal thriller Manushyamrugam. He appeared in comedic parts in movies like Mayamohini and Ordinary.
He directed the 2021 comedy film Black Coffee, a Salt N’ Pepper spin-off.

Shwetha Menon’s accusations
Shwetha Menon expressed doubts about Baburaj’s answer to the charges. Baburaj said that the accusations were made up. According to Shwetha, Baburaj ought to identify the conspirator. Baburaj challenged the young artist who made the accusations against him to reveal her face in public while refuting the claims.
At his Aluva residence, a younger artist accused Baburaj of mistreating her. She claimed that under the guise of providing her a part in a movie, he invited her to his house. The director and screenwriter, he said, would be present to talk about the movie.
“When I reached the house, I realised that Baburaj was alone. He gave me a room to rest and told me that the filmmakers would come shortly. However, after a while, he knocked at the door and then started physically abusing me,” she said.
The young performer departed from Baburaj’s residence, although he persisted in sending lewd messages via WhatsApp.
She also disclosed that a number of individuals had approached her about working with star Shine Tom Chacko on a movie, saying the actor had told them to set her up for a meeting. She suggested that it might be an additional group attempting to exploit ladies who are similar to her.
The Hema Committee report, which revealed s*xual harassment, casting couch, salary discrepancies, exploitation, and lobbying in the Malayalam cinema business, was released shortly after the string of accusations.
