The term “hogs” first appeared in the 1980s and has since become a significant part of Washington’s history. In the 1980s, Washington’s robust offensive line evolved as one of the most famous offensive lines of the time, earning the nickname “The Hogs” courtesy of Joel Bugel, who was Washington’s offensive line coach at the time.

The original members of the Hogs were displeased with the new mascot’s arrival. They believe the owner, Dan Snyder, is misusing the Hogs trademark and not giving them any credit. The members have now sued Snyder in an attempt to restore control of the Hogs brand and get a federal trademark.

Although the Cleveland Browns’ chances of making the playoffs appear to be minimal, their performance versus the Washington Commanders was outstanding. The Washington Commanders will now face the Dallas Cowboys on January 9.
