“I am suspicious of Mahalakshmi’s friend Ashraf. Earlier I had filed a complaint against Ashraf in Nelamangala. Ashraf hails from Uttarakhand. Hemant Das, the murdered Mahalakshmi’s husband,” said that one day when he checked Mahalakshmi’s mobile phone, he came to know that she was in touch with Ashraf.
Mahalakshmi’s family members and her husband have cast suspicion on Ashraf and three of her colleagues-Mukta, Sashidhar, and Sunil-who allegedly had disputes with her in the past.
Hemant Das claimed that Ashraf was blackmailing Mahalakshmi and tensions between Mahalakshmi and Ashraf escalated recently, resulting in Mahalakshmi filing a complaint against him at Seshadripur police station. Hemantdas suspects this dispute may have led to her tragic death claimed Hemant who was married to Mahalakshmi for six years before their seperation.
However, while the police have revealed that they have identified the suspect, they are yet to reveal his name but have sent a team to West Bengal to nab. The suspect is not from Karnataka as per the police.
The police discovered the body of age 29 Mahalakshmi, who worked as a team leader with a costume outlet in Malleshwaram and lived alone, at her rented house in Vinayaka Nagar in Vyalikaval.
Mahalakshmi’s family is originally from Nepal and lived in Nelamangala for 35 years. She had an arranged marriage with Hemant and broke up with him 9 months ago. Mahalakshmi used to come once a month to see their four year old daughter. Mahalakshmi’s younger sister is named Saheeda while her mother is named Meena Rana.
Hemant runs a mobile shop in Nelamangala.
The victim’s apartment building’s driveway has been blocked off, according to the ACP, and forensic specialists and the dog squad have been sent in to examine the scene of the crime.
“The body has been identified. The probe is going on. We will give more information after the investigation. She was settled in Karnataka but is originally from another state,” the senior officer told.
Shraddha Walker case
The murder in Malleswaram is very similar to the vicious assassination of Delhi resident Shraddha Walker on May 18, 2022, in Mehrauli, Delhi, by her live-in spouse Aftab Poonawalla.
After reportedly killing Walkar, 28-year-old Poonawala dismembered her body into 35 pieces, which he stored in a 300-liter refrigerator at his home for over three weeks before discarding them all over the city.
