She was born on 3 August 1980 in Ranchi, Jharkhand. She belongs to a middle-class family. Her mother works as a housekeeper, while her father is a retired employee of Coal India.

Her Career

She made her national debut in 2008, winning a gold medal in the process. In a competition for the Asia Pacific Lawn Bowl in 2013, she took first place in the mixed pairs division.
She competed in the Women’s Triples and Women’s Fours competitions at the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Scotland, where she finished in third and fourth pools, respectively. She won two silver medals in the 10th Asian Lawn Bowls Championships in the Women’s Pairs and Singles events that same year.
She had a remarkable fifth-place result on Australia’s Gold Coast in 2018.
Lovely Choubey made history in 2022 at the Commonwealth Games in England when she and her three teammates—Nayanmoni Saikia, Pinki Singh, and Rupa Rani Tirkey—won the final match of the competition and won India’s first-ever gold medal.
