Jim Larraaga has been the helm of Miami since 2011. In his twelve seasons at Miami, Jim Larranaga has guided the Hurricanes to six NCAA playoff trips. Last year, they reached the Elite Eight for the first time in school history.
The 73-year-old native of the Bronx, New York, has more than 30 years of experience as a head teacher in Division I.

Jim Larranaga is the wife of Liz Larranaga, a former loan manager and realtor. The couple exchanged vows in a secret ceremony in the Bronx in 1971, and they have been together ever since.
They would keep their distance relationship going and keep talking on the phone. Eventually, they reconnected, and they remained friends. While Liz’s DOB isn’t known, she is aged between 65-75 years.

Two boys, Jay (born in 1975) and Jon born in 1980), were born to Jay Larranaga and his wife Liz.
The family’s eldest son, Jay Larranaga, played college basketball for the Bowling Green Falcons before pursuing a pro basketball career overseas. He started his career with Peristeri B.C. in Greece before playing for clubs in France, Italy, and Spain.
Once that was over, he carried on his father’s coaching job, first with the Irish national team and then with the NBA G League.
