Sofie Lundgaard, a midfielder for Liverpool, will miss the rest of the season due to a knee injury as it was announced this year in March. She was hurt in the first half of Sunday’s Women’s Super League (WSL) triumph over West Ham.

A scan revealed that she now has a medial ligament damage, which will prevent her from playing in the final six league games this season, reported Liverpool site. 

LFC Women’s club physician, Dr. Amelia Woodhouse, stated, as per the aforementioned site that, “Sofie sustained a knee injury during Sunday’s game which was confirmed to be ligament damage following a scan.”

Further it was said, “She will now begin a period of rehabilitation at the club and will miss the final games of the season.”

Who is Sofie Lundgaard?

Sofie Lundgaard is a Danish football player who was born on May 29 2002 in Aalborg, Denmark. The 22 year old has a height of 172cm.

She is single and unmarried.

Sofie Lundgaard has made appearances for the Denmark women’s national junior team and plays in midfield for the Women’s Super League team Liverpool.

Having represented Denmark at the junior level, Lundgaard moved from Fortuna Hjorring to Liverpool in January 2023, and he has made 17 appearances so far this season. 

Lundgaard moved to Fortuna Hjørring in February of 2019. She left the team on January 10, 2023, after signing a contract with Liverpool. The midfield player has participated in over 100 senior games since making her debut in the top league at the age of 17. 

Lundgaard, an Under-15, Under-17, and Under-19 national team representative wears number 15 for the Reds. With the return of former captain Gemma Bonner, she became Liverpool’s second January window acquisition.

She was described as “exciting young talent” by the manager Matt Beard as they were eyeing the player since six months before she penned the deal.
