A representative for the local rapper, known as LGP QUA revealed he was murdered in the shooting. It happened just before 4:40 p.m. on Sunday along the 1400 block of East Luzerne Street. The 24-year-old rapper, whose real name was Qidere Johnson, was shot in the chest after which he died.
Born in 1999, LGP Qua was well-known in his hometown of northern Philadelphia for his community involvement and socially aware freestyles.
“Let’s Get Paid,” or LGP QUA, boldly called himself the “Voice of the Youth.” Johnson was raised by a single mother in a challenging neighbourhood in North Philadelphia and didn’t meet his father until he was older. His 18-month prison sentence for a weapons offense marked the beginning of his musical career. He first met his father during this time, and he started penning lyrics.
His passion for music developed while he was a student at Edward T. Steel Elementary and other nearby schools. LGP QUA’s songs, which drew inspiration from the neighbourhoods surrounding him, presented unvarnished accounts of adversity, survival, and social injustice.

With emotionally driven freestyles that connected with audiences across, LGP QUA gained notoriety in 2017–2018. During his legal battle, Meek Mill recorded a freestyle in November 2017 that went viral and established him as one of Philadelphia’s up-and-coming artists.
Because of his gritty, impassioned delivery, QUA is frequently likened to a young Meek Mill. He spoke about the brutal realities of living in underprivileged regions, including a mother making breakfast for her kid after he was shot down.
Tributes from fans
Fans started uploading Johnson’s most memorable videos online and leaving memorial remarks, despite the fact that neither the local police nor his family have released a formal statement.
