Born on May 27, 1999, Matheus Cunha, whose real name is Matheus Santos Carneiro da Cunha is a Brazilian professional footballer.
Standing at 1.84 m (6 feet 0 inches) tall, Cunha plays as a forward for Premier League club Wolverhampton Wanderers and the Brazil national team. Versatile in attack, Cunha has also been deployed as a second striker and winger.
His wife Gabriela Nogueira is from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil with the two getting married on May 21, 2024 after dating for a long period. The two share a child together, a son named Levi born in 2020. Gabriela who is now based in Wolverhampton where her husband plays is a lawyer by profession.
Career
Born in João Pessoa, Paraíba, Brazil, Cunha played futsal as a child for a club in Recife, before venturing into football. Cunha began his youth career in Brazil with Coritiba before moving to Europe at 18 to join Swiss club Sion.
He later played for Bundesliga sides RB Leipzig and Hertha BSC, and in August 2021, he signed with Atlético Madrid. In January 2023, Cunha joined Wolverhampton Wanderers, initially on loan.
The professional footballer played as a second striker, winger, and forward for a number of clubs such as RB Leipzig, Sion, Atlético Madrid, Hertha BSC, and Wolverhampton Wanderers.
