Lauren Tomasi shot with rubber bullet
Nine News reporter Lauren Tomasi was recently shot by a rubber bullet in the leg by law enforcement while covering protests in Los Angeles. The entire dramatic moment was caught on video and it showed a police officer aiming at her and her cameraman before firing. Following the shot, Tomasi cried out in pain and clutched her calf, while a nearby protester yelled:
You just shot the f—— reporter!”

Despite the injury, Tomasi remained composed and even reassured a bystander by saying, “I’m good”. She then moved to safety with her camera operator and has since not made any official statement about the incident. However, she continued to update her followers on the protests, posting the following on X:

Career and achievements
After completing her education, Lauren Tomasi started out her career in the ski fields of New South Wales as a snow reporter. She eventually moved on to television roles and gained experience reading radio news in Colorado. Tomasi then joined Nine News Sydney, where she currently still works. She has since been appointed as the U.S. correspondent, where she has covered significant stories ranging from Donald Trump’s court cases to prestigious events like the Oscars and the Grammys.
Prior to her foreign secondment, Lauren was a journalist at 9News Sydney, where she has covered a range of major news events, including the abandoned r*pe trial of former political staffer Bruce Lehrmann, the historic murder conviction of wife killer, Chris Dawson and was on the ground in the hardest hit areas to file throughout the COVID-19 pandemic.
Lauren who was born in Australia studied journalism at the University of New South Wales, and undertook a year of study abroad in Colorado where she worked as a newsreader on a local radio station.
