A look at Larry Lloyd’s career

Before being bought for £50,000 in 1969 by renowned Liverpool manager Bill Shankly, Lloyd started his career with the local team Bristol Rovers.

Lloyd signed a £60,000 contract to join Forest after two years at Coventry, where he partnered with Kenny Burns to establish a highly successful central defence tandem that helped the team defeat Malmo in the 1979 European Cup final.

The final five years of Bill Shankly’s legendary managerial tenure at Liverpool, from 1969 to 1974, saw centre back Lloyd help the team win both the first division and the now-defunct UEFA Cup in 1973.

After finishing a trophy-filled playing career, the defender managed Wigan and Notts County and went on to win four caps for England. About his managerial career, he managed teams like Wigan Athletic (1981-1983) and Notts County (1983-1984).
