Laurence Valentine Lloyd was an English football player and coach who was born on October 6, 1948 in Bristol, England.

Before being bought for ยฃ50,000 in 1969 by renowned Liverpool manager Bill Shankly, Lloyd started his career with the local team Bristol Rovers.
Lloyd signed a ยฃ60,000 contract to join Forest after two years at Coventry, where he partnered with Kenny Burns to establish a highly successful central defence tandem that helped the team defeat Malmo in the 1979 European Cup final.
Following a period at Coventry, Lloyd joined Forest in 1976 and played in 218 games, contributing to manager Brian Clough’s incredible turnaround of a lower-division team into the top three in Europe in just three years.
As a vital player for Forest during their consecutive European Cup victories under renowned manager Clough, Lloyd also won the old First Division title and the UEFA Cup with Liverpool in the early 1970s. The final five years of Bill Shankly’s legendary managerial tenure at Liverpool, from 1969 to 1974, saw centre back Lloyd help the team win both the first division and the now-defunct UEFA Cup in 1973.
