Lamine Yamal has made football history by becoming the youngest player to ever play for Barcelona.

In the 83rd minute of Saturday’s match at Camp Nou against Real Betis, the youthful forward made his senior debut.

Yamal joined La Liga at the age of 15 years and 290 days, making him the fifth-youngest player in league history.

Who Is Lamine Yamal?

Lamine Yamal was born in Esplugues de Llobregat, less than 4 km from Camp Nou. Born on 13 July 2007, he is 15 years old and the Spanish player is 1.80 m (5 ft 11 in) tall.

At Barcelona’s renowned La Masia academy, he rose through the youth ranks.

Yamal started working out with Barcelona’s first team for the first time in September of last year after Xavi Hernandez, the team’s manager, spotted his star potential.

At the Under 15, Under 16, Under 17, and Under 19 levels, he competed for Spain. He is, however, also eligible to represent either Morocco or Equatorial Guinea because of his parentage.
