James Cameron’s epic science fiction film Avatar: The Way Of Water had a spectacular opening weekend in India. As expected based on early forecasts, the film fared wonderfully and set new box office records in South India. The film made almost Rs 40 crore net on its first day, according to Box Office India. The film handily defeated Avengers Endgame in the southern circuits, but it was unable to top those opening numbers in India.

Avatar 2 has performed remarkably well in Hindi cinemas. In circuits in the north and east like Bihar and Assam, Avatar – The Way Of Water may have performed better than Avatar (2009), according to the reports. Other circuits, including those from Mumbai, Delhi, Punjab, and Bengal, have contributed good numbers to the collection.

All Hindi markets are expected to perform well for the film on Saturday, although South circuits like Nizam/Andhra may see a decrease. In terms of first-day box office receipts, Avatar 2 has outpaced other Marvel films like Spiderman: No Way Home, Avengers: Infinity War, and Dr. Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.
