For the unfamiliar, Dae-han was unable to replicate Ban Hyo-jin’s success on Monday, finishing seventh in the men’s 10-meter air rifle final. This came shortly after his teammate won Korea’s 100th-ever Olympic medal.

Choe qualified for the eight-man final earlier in the day, securing the fifth spot with a score of 630.8 points.

The 19-year-old, who holds the Korean record in men’s 10-meter air rifle with a personal best of 634.1 points, ended the first stage of the final in seventh place with 103.3 points.

Despite reaching the 14th shot with 145.2 points, he fell short of Italy’s Danilo Dennis Sollazzo, who had 145.4 points, missing out on a medal.

In his first Olympic appearance, Choe finished without a medal. He also competed in the mixed 10-meter air rifle team event with Ban on Saturday, but the pair finished 22nd in the qualification round, missing the final.

Meanwhile, Korea’s Park Ha-jun and Keum Ji-hyeon won silver in the mixed team event, claiming Korea’s first medal of the Paris Games. By press time Monday, Korea had won four shooting medals that is two gold and two silver.

Ban Hyo-jin’s Performance

Sixteen-year-old Ban Hyo-jin secured Korea’s fourth shooting medal at the 2024 Paris Olympics, winning gold in the women’s 10-meter air rifle event.

Ban defeated China’s Huang Yuting in a dramatic tiebreaking shoot-off, both having scored 251.8 points, tying the previous Olympic record set by China’s Yang Qian in Tokyo. Ban clinched victory with a 10.4-point final shot, while Huang scored 10.3.

Korean shooters Oh Ye-jin and Kim Ye-ji topped the women’s 10-meter air pistol contest on Sunday, winning gold and silver, respectively.

As of press time, Korea has yet to win a medal in an individual men’s shooting event at the Chateauroux Shooting Centre in Chateauroux, France.

The sport shooting schedule continues with the 10-meter air rifle mixed team bronze-medal match, where gold medalist Oh and Lee Won-ho will represent Korea against India.
