Age 22 KKR net bowler Jamshed Alam who is from Lucknow and played for Meerut Mavericks in the UP T20 Cricket League bowled 24 deliveries against Kohli in Kanpur, and the young bowler gave him fits with his speed and outswingers. Jamshed surprised everyone by dismissing Kohli twice with a bowling pace of approximately 135 kmph.

Jamshed also bowled to Indian openers Rohit Sharma and Yashaswi Jaiswal during the practice session and both the openers were troubled by his swing bowling.

Despite his recent form struggles, Kohli was obviously impressed with the young bowler’s effort. Even after being removed twice, Kohli paused to acknowledge Jamshed’s bowling. Later on, the net bowler disclosed that Kohli inquired about his age and urged him to keep up his hard effort.

For a young bowler like Jamshed who is trying to establish himself in Indian cricket, such acknowledgement from a player of Kohli’s quality may be quite beneficial.

Concerns over Kohliโ€™s game

Even while Jamshed’s performance was one of everyoneโ€™s favourite, it also revealed worries about Virat Kohli’s present form. In the first Test match against Bangladesh in Chennai, Kohli had a difficult time, scoring just 6 and 17 runs in each of the two innings. Kohli’s lack of runs is still a talking issue ahead of the Kanpur Test, as Team India looks to advance strongly to the World Test Championship (WTC) final.

Even though Team India easily won the first Test, attention is still on Virat Kohli as he gets ready for the second Test in the hopes of finding his form again.

Even with his recent setbacks, Virat Kohli is still an important member of the Indian team. It would be intriguing to watch if this difficult practise motivates the Indian captain to recover in the next game.
