The local media reports that on September 3, three Kazakh nationals are accused of breaking into a villa at a resort in Cherng Talay, holding the homeowner hostage while he was bound and gagged, and beating him mercilessly in exchange for information.

The trio allegedly forced the victim to endure that torture before fleeing to Dubai with 12 million Thai bhat ($338,038) worth of stolen goods in their possession. According to the report, among the stolen material goods were watches from Rolex, Patek Philippe, and Graff in addition to a MacBook, two iPhones, and a pair of sunglasses.

It was also established that the man’s passwords for a safe, phones, and computers, as well as his passport and debit card from Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank, had been stolen. Since then, the three Kazakhs have been charged with robbing the safe of an extra โ‚ฌ40,000 ($43,000) and making off with a further โ‚ฌ16,000 ($17,200) using the stolen debit card.

The assault ended, and the victim was left bound and gagged. CCTV footage obtained by The Phuket News depicts the Italian man leaving the resort the following day by rolling down a lane. The incident occurred just days after police in Phuket held a news conference regarding an increase in Russian criminal activities in the region, but officials there have yet to openly address it.

The Italian man was dragged out of bed by the three Kazakh nationals at 11 p.m., according to a source close to the Italian man who told The Phuket News about the horrifying experience. A person in charge of the attack allegedly summoned the attackers once the victim was bound and gagged, gave them the information they were supposed to get from the person through beatings, which are said to have continued all night.

It was determined that the guys suspected of carrying out the kidnapping and torture had passed through immigration at Phuket International Airport before taking a flight to Dubai. They are thought to have gone back to Kazakhstan at this time.
