Keiner Asprilla, a junior and 247 Sports’ No. 50 prospect in the class of 2026, is accused of r*ping a 17-year-old on September 20 in Colombia, Missouri when the University of Missouri was hosting him during a recruiting visit.

He is apparently scheduled to be extradited to Missouri “in the coming days,” according to police officers who responded to a s*xual assault accusation in Columbia on October 8.

He was arrested Tuesday at St. Peter’s Prep in Jersey City as a fugitive from justice for an alleged forcible r*pe during a September recruiting visit to the University of Missouri.

Rich Hansen, St. Peter’s Prep Athletic Director, confirmed that Asprilla is no longer attending the school.

Last summer, age 18 7-foot-1, 250-pound junior centre, basketball player Keiner Asprilla moved from Don Bosco Prep to St. Peter’s Prep. According to court documents, Asprilla, a Colombian national who attended St. Peter’s Prep on an I-20 visa, was 17 years old when he travelled to Missouri. In October, he turned eighteen. Asprilla agreed to a voluntary return to Missouri on Wednesday at a hearing in Hudson County Family Court.

Asprilla’s visit sparked a lot of attention on social media, as evidenced by the re-posting of photos he shot while traveling on Interstate 70 on Instagram. Following the conclusion of his visit, Asprilla shared pictures of himself waving a Colombian flag while seated in a chair with members of Missouri’s coaching staff, including head coach Dennis Gates.

Asprilla spent the previous two seasons playing for Don Bosco, when he and Rutgers freshman Dylan Harper helped the Ironmen capture the NJSIAA’s Non-Public A state championship. Asprilla, a formidable defender who blocked shots and redirected opponents who drove into the lane, had no English knowledge when he first joined Don Bosco in September 2022 but later developed conversational skills. In addition, he routinely made two-handed dunks and sprinted the court during transitions.

He competed for Team Renaissance, also known as the Rens, in Nike’s Elite Youth Basketball League during the spring and summer. He calls his on-court outbursts “demon time.”

Asprilla is ranked as the No. 2 center in the country for his class and holds offers from top-tier basketball programs, including Kansas, Auburn, Syracuse, and Villanova and according to the On3 Industry Rankings, he is one of the most sought-after recruits in the nation.

Originally from Colombia, Asprilla had a standout high school career, playing at Don Bosco Prep before transferring to St. Peter’s Prep and while at Don Bosco, he contributed to a state championship win, solidifying his reputation.

Accusations against Keiner Asprilla

On October 8, officers were called to an allegation of a s*xual assault “at an unknown location within the City of Columbia,” according to the Columbia Police Department. According to authorities, the victim claimed that Asprilla, a four-star recruit who was in town as a hailed potential, r*ped her on September 20 shortly before midnight. The trip did not include any St. Peter’s Prep staff, coaches, or athletes.
