Who is Dimitrios Diamantakos?

Dimitrios Diamantakos, a striker with Kerala Blasters in the Indian Super League and a professional football player of Greek descent, was born on March 5, 1993 in Piraeus, Greece. The 30-year-old striker measures 1.82 m (6 ft 0 in) tall. He is single and unmarried.

After an impressive debut season with 12 goals in 24 matches, on 4 May 2023, Kerala Blasters announced that they have extended the contract of Diamantakos till 2024 and he was included in the Blasters squad for the 2023 Durand Cup, but missed the entire tournament due to an injury.

A look at Dimitrios Diamantakos’ career so far

After beginning his career at Atromitos Piraeus, Diamantakos joined Olympiacos’ youth teams in 2009. The Greek went on loan to Super League team Panionios in 2012. He came on loan to Aris in January 2013. In 13 appearances, he failed to score a goal. June 2013 saw his loan to Ergotelis.

Having scored 10 goals in 27 league and cup games, he had his greatest season to date. Olympiacos chose to retain him for the 2014–15 campaign after his loan stint at Ergotelis.

Diamantakos made his Superleague debut on August 23, 2014, playing at home for Olympiacos against Niki Volos. He scored his first goal in the 28th minute with a close-range effort.

Diamantakos returned to Karlsruher SC for the season in August 2015, this time on loan. The Greek striker was permanently signed by Karlsruhe on February 18, 2016, for a rumoured €1 million transfer fee.

Dimitrios then played for VfL Bochum, FC St. Pauli, Hajduk Split was loaned to Ashdod in 2022 before moving to Kerela Blasters.  After ending his contract with his previous team, Hajduk Split, Diamantakos completed his transfer to Kerala Blasters on August 25, 2022.

In the first game of the 2022–23 season, a 3–1 victory over East Bengal on October 7, 2022, marked his Indian Super League debut with the Blasters.
