Pulitzer winner Photojournalist Sanna Irshad Mattoo said that she was stopped from flying to the USA for no reason.

Sanna Irshad Mattoo was on her route to the award ceremony after receiving the Pulitzer Prize for her reporting on the Covid-19 outbreak. However, she said that she was stopped despite having a valid ticket and visa.
Although the Indian government has not yet provided an explanation for why she was stopped, police authorities in Jammu and Kashmir were cited by the news agency PTI as claiming that she had been added to a no-fly list.
According to Mattoo, this was the second occurrence of this kind in the previous four months. The journalist told the BBC that when she questioned officials about why she hadn’t been permitted to fly, they didn’t respond with an explanation.

Sanna Irshad Mattoo is a well-known photojournalist from the Indian Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir. She has been in the news because she recently claimed that she denied going to the USA to receive her Pulitzer award which she recently won.
She was born in Jammu and Kashmir’s Srinagar district. She attended Kashmir’s Central University to study Convergent journalism. The 28 year old was born in 1994 with her unmarried and a Muslim by religion.

Sanna Irshad Mattoo accepted a fellowship in photography and social justice with the Magnum Foundation in 2021. She is employed with Reuters.
Before she joined Reuters, Mattoo’s writings appeared in several national and international media, including Al Jazeera, The Nation, TIME, TRT World, South China Morning Post, and Caravan Magazine. According to reports, she has also written for the California-based ZUMA press agency.
Sanna Irshad Mattoo received the Pulitzer Prize for Feature Photography in 2022. The prize was bestowed upon her for her coverage of the COVID-19 crisis in India. She was on her route to New York this time to accept the Pulitzer Prize. However, authorities denied her visa and said that she had been added to a no-fly list.
