Karnataka advanced to the Vijay Hazare Trophy final on Wednesday thanks to a six-wicket victory against Haryana, thanks to a masterclass in dealing spinners on a difficult surface from Devdutt Padikkal and Ravichandran Smaran, both of whom were in their fifties. Karnataka’s pursuit of a respectable 238 got off to a rough start when captain and leading scorer Mayank Agarwal was stranded in front of the wicket by pacer Anshul Kamboj’s low-slung delivery in the opening over.

21-year-old left handed batter Ravichandran Smaran was born on 5 May 2003 in Mysuru to Sunanda R and Ravichandran S in Mysuru Karnataka and went to the Ebenezer International School in Bengaluru. He is 5ft 10in tall. His father was an Associate General Manager at Schneider Electric.
Smaran is currently single and unmarried.
Smaran Ravichandran career
Smaran Ravichandran was an extremely mischievous youngster. His parents therefore sent him to the Vultures Cricket Club, a nearby academy, to learn cricket. He enjoyed watching left-handed batsmen like Michael Hussey and Kumar Sangakkara play when he was younger.
He was a highly impatient batsman when he first began cricket training at the age of seven.
He achieved a hundred, a double hundred, and a triple hundred in an Under-16 KSCA inter-club tournament in 2018.
He scored 167 runs against Andhra Pradesh, 203 runs without being out against Goa, and 150 runs without being out against Puducherry when he was named captain of the Karnataka Under-16 side.
He was part of the team selected by the BCCI to practice at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru for the U-19 boys’ camps in 2019.
He helped the Karnataka Under-23 team win their first CK Nayudu Trophy in 2023–2024 with 829 runs.He played for the Gulbarga Mystics in the 2024 Maharaja T20 Trophy, scoring 302 runs with a strike rate of 145.19 and an average of 43.14.
Smaran was unsold at his base price of Rs 30 lakhs in the 2025 Indian Premier League (IPL) auction. On January 15, 2025, he helped Karnataka defeat Haryana and advance to the 2024–2025 Vijay Hazare Trophy final by scoring 76 runs in 94 deliveries.
