After trading for a second pick in the first round of the 2025 NFL Draft, the New York Giants selected quarterback Jaxson Dart.
A few hours after New York strengthened its defence by selecting Penn State edge rusher Abdul Carter at No. 3, Dart, the former Ole Miss Rebel, was selected with the No. 25 overall choice on Thursday night.

Although the Giants still have fan favourite Tommy DeVito and added veterans Russell Wilson, who is predicted to start this season, and Jameis Winston as free agents last month, they were left without a potential long-term quarterback.
Jaxson Dart is the son of Kara Dart and Brandon Dart.
Kara Dart is Jaxson Dart’s mother. Her Instagram profile, @runningwithkara, showcases her fitness-based program, which she currently operates after having previously worked for the retail business Nordstrom. Kara Dart played volleyball and ran track in high school, according to The Playoffs. While her DOB isn’t known, she is aged between 40-50 years. Jaxson’s father, Brandon Dart, who played football at the University of Utah, is her spouse. Jaxson has two brothers and two sisters, making him one of five siblings.
Giving credit to his mother for his sense of style, the quarterback told GQ that he has always been “in tune with the fashion trends.”
“My moms into it, and she’s done a great job of letting me choose and find things that I like and just giving me options,” Dart told GQ. “At the same time, it’s just something that I’ve come to really love and to express myself in different ways.”
Jaxson Dart’s career
Jaxson Dart passed for 4,691 yards, a state record 67 touchdowns, and just four interceptions as a senior, earning him the title of Gatorade Football Player of the Year. In addition, he ran for 12 touchdowns and 1,195 yards. The MaxPreps National Player of the Year award went to him as well. He totalled 10,688 passing yards and 117 touchdowns in total during his career.
Dart committed to play collegiate football at the University of Southern California (USC) in spite of an offer from Arizona State University and off-season training in Tempe, Arizona, with former ASU quarterback Taylor Kelly.
Dart was a two-time all-state third baseman on the baseball team in addition to playing football.
