On the evening of February 23, Thiruvalluvan was in Bengaluru to cover the Mumbai Indians vs. Delhi Capitals inaugural WPL 2024 game. Unfortunately, on the morning of February 24, 2024, the seasoned cameraman passed away.

Absolutely shocking news. The ever smiling Thiru was a top man. At a time when Indian cameramen weren’t yet rated, Thiru made the mid-wicket camera all his own and was excellent. Everytime we met, I would sing out his full name and he would offer his toothy smile in return. Terrible news.”

Kamalanadimuthu Thiruvalluvan was a beloved senior sports cameraman who was most famously known as “Thiru”. He had been a part of the Indian cricket broadcasting community since the beginning of the sport’s history in India.
He was most recently showing off his camera skills at the ongoing Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2024 when the unexpected and unfortunate death occurred. Regretfully, he departed from this life early today, having concluded the match yesterday.
His skill with a camera was unparalleled, and he was affectionately referred as by his colleagues as Thiru. He captured the essence of sporting events all around the world.
