Born in 1976 in Ranchi, Kalpana Soren hails from Mayurbhanj in Odisha. She is 5ft 4in tall.
She belongs to the Schedule Tribe (ST) Community and follows Hinduism. Her father’s name is Ampa Murmu and he has been a captain in the army. She and Hemant got married in 2006 and have two children together.
Kalpana is more educated than her husband as Hemant Soren had enrolled for B.Tech after intermediate but had dropped out of his studies in between. Kalpana’s father Ampa Murmu had said in an interview that his daughter has done both M.Tech and MBA.
Her journey into the spotlight began when she tied the knot with Hemant Soren on February 7, 2006. Despite her academic pursuits, with graduation, Kalpana is known for her active advocacy for the rights of the tribal community.
