Julian Naumenko passes away
Following his death, the Ukrainian Orthodox Church issued a notice stating:
On behalf of His Eminence Metropolitan Antony and His Eminence Archbishop Daniel, the Consistory of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the USA extends heartfelt condolences and prayerful support to the families of the newly departed servants of God.”
The notice further reads:
Julian Naumenko, beloved son of Very Rev. Fr. Taras Naumenko and Pani Matka Laura Naumenko, whose sudden passing has brought profound sorrow to his family, friends, and parish community.”
Cause of death
As of now, there is no exact cause of death, but reports suggest that he passed away in a car accident.

Naumenko was a young and upcoming college soccer star who was born November 21, 2005, in Hartboro, Pennsylvania. He was born to parents, Laura and Taras Naumenko, who is a priest in the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of America. Julian was just 19 years old at the time of his death.
At just 19 years old, he was a freshman at Rutgers University-Camden, where he had joined the Scarlet Raptors’ soccer program as a goalkeeper for the 2024 season and standing tall at 6’2” and weighing 185 pounds, Julian was a formidable presence on the soccer field. During his high school years at Archbishop Wood, he earned his place as a soccer letterman and served as team captain in his final two seasons and he dedicated ten years to playing for the Ukrainian Nationals club team.
Education
Julian Naumenko originally hailed from Hartboro, PA, and graduated from Archbishop Wood High School in 2024. During his time there, he was a soccer letterman and had a successful goalkeeping career on the varsity team. He spent his final two seasons as the team captain, earning an All-Rookie team and 2 All-PCL player honors. Notably, Naumenko honoured his Ukrainian-American family roots by playing for the Ukrainian Nationals club for ten seasons.
Following his graduation from high school, Julan committed to Rutgers University-Camden in January 2024. He was pursuing a nursing major during the time of his death at the NJ University.
Julian, a freshman goalkeeper from Hatboro, PA, had recently begun his journey at Rutgers-Camden and he was a standout at Archbishop Wood High School, where his stellar performances as captain earned him All-PCL honors twice and a reputation as one of the top goalkeepers in his league.
Julian was a proud Ukrainian-American who dedicated a decade to competing for the Ukrainian Nationals club team, representing his heritage with pride.
