Tokyo Olympics Qualification

The young Judoka from Manipur managed to secure one of the continental quotas to book her slot for Tokyo 2020. She is one of the two highest-ranked Asians outside of the top 18 in the Olympic Game Quota (OGQ) rankings. Sushila ranks 46th in the OGQ rankings, with a total of 989 points. She will compete in the women’s extra-lightweight division (48 kg).

Sushila’s performance in the Tashkent Grand Slam 2021, held at the Humo Arena, was rather disappointing by her standards. Competing in the women’s 48 kg first round, Sushila started on a positive note, defeating her Russian counterpart, Anastasia Pavlenko. However, the 2014 Commonwealth Games silver medallist could not progress further beyond the second round. Sushila lost to Mongolian judoka Urantsetseg Munkhbat by Ippon – a full throw.
