In September 2022, state Attorney General Letitia James filed a civil complaint alleging that Trump and other individuals perpetrated a large-scale fraud conspiracy by artificially boosting property values.
Despite Trump’s charges of prejudice, Judge Engoron gave a harsh ruling on September 26 that found the defendants accountable for fraud. Now, Arthur Engoron has to make decisions about fines—James is suing for $250 million—and whether Trump and the Trump Organization can stay in business in New York.

Who is Arthur Engoron?
Arthur Engoron is an American judge. He has been in the news because he is currently presiding over the infamous New York civil investigation of the Donald Trump Organization.
He was born in Queens, New York City, but subsequently relocated to East Williston, Nassau County, with his family.

Arthur Engoron completed his elementary education at Old Westbury’s Wheatley School, where he graduated in 1967. Later, Columbia University awarded him a bachelor’s degree. He subsequently enrolled in the New York University School of Law, where he graduated in 1979 with a law degree.
Having been married three times, Engoron is the father of four children. His political affiliation leaned toward the Democratic Party.
His current wife’s name is Dawn Marie Engoron and as mentioned in a recent article by Daily Dot, Dawn Marie is a psychoanalyst and psychotherapist. The 74 uear old judge has a net worth of $7 million.
His career
Arthur Engoron began his legal career at the now-closed Olwine, Connelly, Chase, O’Donnell & Weyher. He subsequently spent 1981–83 working at Pryor Cashman before quitting to focus on his musical career. He trained students to play the drums and piano for seven years.
He started working as a legal clerk for Judge Michael Schoenfeld in 1991. Since 1994, Engoron has maintained his membership in the American Civil Liberties Union.
Arthur Engoron earned a seat in the New York City Civil Court in an election that took place in 2003. He was appointed to the New York Supreme Court in 2013 as an acting justice, and in 2015, he ran unopposed for a permanent seat.
