She graduated from the Deen Dayal Upadhyaya University in Gorakhpur where she completed her post graduation in defence studies. She attended A. D. Govt. Girls Inter College as well.

Chitra Tripathi has contributed to Sahara India, India News, News 24, ETV Network, and ABP News, among other news stations. After joining ABP News in 2016, she hosted a number of shows, including Modi ke 4 Saal, 2019 Kaun Jeetega, and Kaun Banega Rastrapati.

She left ABP on February 11 and took a job as deputy editor at Aaj Tak. She later left Aaj Tak and returned to ABP. After Rohit Sardana’s death, she covered a number of shows on Aaj Tak, including Dangal, which took the place of her previous show Desh Tak on the same channel.

For her coverage of Kashmir, she received the 2015 Ramnath Goenka Award. She is also well-known for her work as Bullet Reporter on the election-focused program Aaj Tak.

The 2017 Indian presidential election, the 2019 Indian general election, the Kumbh Mela in 2019, the West Bengal elections in 2021, the Uttar Pradesh elections in 2022, the Gyanvapi Masjid Survey in 2022, and many other events were covered by her.
