Former Suns security director Gene Traylor recently filed a federal lawsuit against Josh Bartelstein, where he accused Josh of having a s*xual relationship with former Phoenix Mercury player Sophie Cunningham. According to Traylor, Suns executive Dan Craig claimed that:

Josh Bartelstein is the CEO of the Phoenix Suns, who was born on July 17, 1989, in Highland Park, Illinois. He was born to parents, Mark and Sheri Bartelstein, and he grew up surrounded by professional sports. His father currently works as a high-profile sports agent representing various top NBA players. Josh developed a deep passion for basketball at an early age and began his own athletic journey at Highland Park High School. He also played at the collegiate level at Phillips Exeter Academy, where he broke records in three-point shooting.

Josh attended Highland Park High School during his childhood and later attended the University of Michigan, where he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree. During his time there, he served as a walk-on player for the Wolverines basketball team from 2009 to 2013 before eventually becoming team captain during his senior year. He helped guide Michigan to the 2013 NCAA Championship game during his time as the captain.

After completing his education, Josh Bartelstein joined the Detroit Pistons in 2015. During his time there, he worked closely under Vice Chairman Arn Tellem. Josh then went on to hold several positions like Chief of Staff and EVP of Business and Basketball Operations. Josh was eventually named as the CEO of the Suns and Mercury in April 2023 after Mat Ishbia acquired the franchise.
