On October 25, 2023, a scary incident happened in Lewiston, Maine. A man named Robert Card, who was 40 years old started shooting at a place called Just-In-Time Recreation bowling alley, and also at Schemengees Bar and Grill.

Who was Joseph Walker?

Joseph Walker was the son of Leroy Walker who is a member of the city council in Auburn, Maine. Leroy, Joseph’s very sad father shared that Joseph acted bravely to protect the people at the restaurant during the terrible event. According to Leroy, the shooter, Card hurt Joseph after Joseph tried to stop him using a knife.

Leroy Walker explained that Card shot Joseph Walker in the stomach twice. This happened when Joseph, the restaurant manager bravely stepped forward with a butcher knife, attempting to stop the gunman from harming others. Tragically, he was shot in the stomach.

A GoFundMe campaign was started by Walker’s stepson. His stepson revealed that he was a cherished figure in the lives of many – a beloved husband, father, grandpa, son, and a dear friend to many.

Joseph Walker’s wife, Tracey, shared a heartfelt tribute, confirming that her husband lost his life while bravely trying to shield the people in the restaurant during the terrible shooting. On Facebook, she wrote: “He’ll always be in my heart. From the very beginning of our love story, he made my life better and would do anything for me, our kids, and grandkids. Rest in peace, my love. We’ll be together again someday.”

A person who used to work at the restaurant said that Walker was a really great manager. They mentioned how he always made sure the girls working there felt safe. They also expressed happiness about the time they spent together at work, creating lots of good memories. They believed right away that Walker wouldn’t have given up easily if they heard about the situation.
