Trott emphasized that the players are representing a society that is dealing with loss and difficulties as well as playing for the sake of the game. He emphasized how victories like this might make people happy at home and motivate young people to play cricket in Afghanistan.

During a press conference after Afghanistan’s 69-run win over England on October 15, Jonathan Trott, a former England player, praised Afghan opener Rahmanullah Gurbaz, labeling him a match-winner. According to Trott, Afghanistan’s chances of winning increase significantly when Gurbaz spends more time at the crease.

Prior to this victory, Afghanistan had only defeated Scotland in their first World Cup match in 2015. They performed less well at the 2019 tournament in England, losing all nine games, including a huge loss against the hosts.

His career

Jonathan Trott represented the Warwickshire County Cricket Club at home and also competed in South Africa and New Zealand. He then switched to representing England, though, and his impressive displays there earned him a call-up to the senior England Test team in August 2009 for the fifth Ashes Test. In that Test, he made a century, making history as the 18th England player to do so in his Test debut.

He struck another century at the MCG 18 months later to help England win and keep the Ashes. His greatest England score in a Test match was 226 against Bangladesh on May 28, 2010, at Lord’s, when he also claimed his maiden Test wicket.

However, in November 2013, Jonathan Trott took a break from all kinds of cricket, citing stress and anxiety. He attempted a comeback in April 2014, and for the 2015 West Indies Test series, he ultimately joined the England squad. But on May 4, 2015, he ended his career in all forms of international cricket after struggling throughout the series.

After the English domestic cricket season, Trott declared in May 2018 that he was taking a retirement from professional cricket. Trott was appointed the new head coach of the Afghanistan cricket team in July 2022.
