Jonas Vingegaard put on a thrilling performance in the individual time trial on Stage 16 this year and clinched a second victory. He is the defending Tour de France champion for the second consecutive year.

Before the last, primarily ceremonial stage of the 110th Tour, Vingegaard knew the title was virtually his again because of the considerable advantage he had built up over his primary competitor, Tadej Pogaar, the winner in 2020 and 2021.

As they lined up and posed for pictures together on the way to Paris, Vingegaard shared champagne with his Visma-Jumbo teammates.

“This year has been fantastic. What a Tour de France it has been for us, Vingegaard added. “Once again, I could not have accomplished it without my team. We started the plans early. We have had a great Tour, and I couldn’t be more proud of each and every one of us.

Vingegaard began riding at a young age. He is 1.75 meters or five feet seven inches tall and weighs 132 pounds.

In 2016, while riding for the UCI Continental team ColoQuick-Cult, he achieved success as a senior rider. He set climbing records but hadn’t yet established himself on the road. 

In 2019, he joined Team Jumbo-Visma. At the Tour de Pologne and made an impression. At the Vuelta a Espaa, he rode as a domestique for Primo Rogli.

Tom Dumoulin was replaced by Vingegaard in the team’s Tour de France lineup in April 2021. Vingegaard initially rode for Rogli in the Tour as a domestique. Vinegegaard took over Rogli after it crashed and later withdrew.

Tadej Pogaar, the race leader and eventual winner, was dropped by him after he dominated Mont Ventoux, and he went on to finish second overall.

Vingegaard earns a rumored salary of $500,000,, however, his salary will soon increase after extending his contract with Jumbo-Visma until 2027. He has a net worth of $5 million.
