John Hao is a 20-year-old University Michigan State student who hails from China and is a fan of James Harden

John Hao is left paralyzed from chest to down after sustaining injuries in the mass shooting on campus earlier this month. When the Philadelphia 76ers star James Harden heard that Hao was his big fan, he quickly stepped forward for donating to this student’s GoFundMe page to help them to pay for his medical bills.

“Everything will work out itself, be much stronger. You’re all right. You’ll be all right, I promise you that. I’m with you. I know it’s tough right now, but you have to stay physically strong, you know what I mean? You gotta just think positive things in you, and keep pushing and also keep fighting. I got you,” Harden told Hao on the call.

The basketballer has also reportedly sent him his game-worn sneakers and some other gifts.

Who is John Hao?

John Hao is among the five students, who were critically injured after 43-year-old Anthony McRae opened fire inside University of Michigan State on the 13th of February 2023.

“The bullet severed John’s spinal cord (t7-t8) and he was critically injured by lungs, leaving him paralyzed from the chest down region,” Hao’s roommate, Argent Qian stated on his GoFundMe page. The GoFundMe page has already raised over $353,829.

James Harden

James Harden is also known by his full name James Edward Harden Jr. He was born in 1989 on 26 August and presently James is 33 years old. He is 6ft 5in tall and hails from Los Angeles, United States.

James Harden has played college basketball for Arizona State Sun Devils, where James was named a consensus of All-American and he was the Pac-10 Player of the Year in early 2009.

He was also selected with the third overall pick in the NBA draft of 2009 by the Oklahoma City Thunder. In 2012, James Harden was named the NBA Sixth Man of the Year with the Thunder and helped out the team reach NBA Finals, where they lost to team Miami Heat in five games.
