Millionaire amateur jockey Maxwell put a stunning sixth place result in the Grand National to silence his critics. The 45-year-old rides as an amateur jump jockey out of passion in addition to his business pursuits. He said, as per The Sun:

Crossing the Melling Road I couldn’t believe I was still in touch, but I could also see so many going well.

“It wasn’t like there was just the three of us travelling well.

“I thought bloody hell I’m going to finish the Grand National!

Maxwell will receive a £30,000 reward for his performance in the main event, adding yet another unforgettable racing experience to his collection.

Who is David Maxwell?

David Maxwell is a part-time jockey. He recemtly disproved all of his detractors by placing sixth in the most prestigious race in the world. And on the chaser trained by Henry de Bromhead, he experienced the best part of his life running in front of a crowd of 60,000 spectators.

When Maxwell was sixteen, he was sent to school in Dorset before travelling up to Cambridge to study economics, a report in The Telegraph says.

One Sunday morning, while riding for point-to-point trainer Henry Hill on the Links schooling ground in Newmarket, he broke his jaw in six places when hunting the drag.

David Maxwell is a 45-year-old property developer/amateur jockey and horse owner and is the founder and CEO of construction company DPK.

David Maxwell’s family

David Maxwell was raised in a racing household but did not begin really pursuing race riding until his late 20s. Before selling the horse, his father Jeremy trained Rhyme ‘N’ Reason, the 1988 Grand National winner, in their family’s Northern Ireland stable.

His mother’s name is Judy. She also helped ‘N’ getting trained alongside Jeremy. While his net worth isn’t known, he is a multi-millionaire.
