For the unversed, reports emerged earlier indicating that Jitan Sahni, the 65-year-old father of Vikassheel Insaan Party aka VIP Chief Mukesh Sahni, was found shot dead at his ancestral home in Supaul Bazar, Darbhanga.

The incident which has caused a chaos amongst the local residents has reportedly took place on Tuesday morning.
What Did Media Reports Reveal?
As per the media reports, Darbhanga SSP Jagunath Reddy confirmed the murder news. As per Reddy, a large police contingent arrived at the scene to investigate the case, however, the motive behind the incident is yet to be known.

According to various reports, 65 year old Jitan Sahni was killed inside his home, where he lived alone. His mutilated body was discovered on Tuesday morning. He had two sons.
Reports suggests that a SIT team including the Sub-divisional police officer and SHO has been formed to investigate the murder case.
About Mukesh Sahini
For the curious, Mukesh Sahini, the founder of VIP, is a prominent leader among the Mallah community. He was away from Darbhanga, Bihar, in Mumbai, when the alleged incident took place.
Mukesh Sahini has campaigned earlier alongside Tejashwi Yadav in the recent Lok Sabha elections. His party contested for 3 seats in Bihar, though they lost in all three constituencies.
His party is allied with the RJD and the Congress in the INDIA bloc. Mukesh Sahini’s residence is near his father’s home. As per reports, Mukesh’ father used to live alone in their ancestral home.

What Did the Police Say?
According to the Senior officer Reddy, the murder could be linked to a theft attempt or personal enmity. However, details are yet to be known as the case is being investigated.
Meanwhile, after the incident made headlines, Bihar’s deputy chief minister, Samrat Choudhary, came forward and assured through a video message that the swift action will be taken and justice will be served to the deceased.
Followed by this, Union Minister, Jitan Ram Manjhi, took to X/Twitter as he expressed his shock over the murder case. Furthermore, he demanded an immediate arrest and speedy trial.
A spokesperson of Janata Dal (United) and MLC Neeraj Kumar expressed his condolences as he described the incident as “unfortunate.”
