Just five days ago, Serena Williams made a surprise cameo appearance during Kendrick Lamar’s show at the Super Bowl LIX. The appearance sparked all kinds of reactions due to the nature of their relationships. Kendrick Lamar and Drake share a rivalry featuring a series of Diss tracks, including his track “Not Like Us,” which was the son when Serena Williams appeared. What sparked further reactions is that Serena and Drake have dated each other in the past.

Incidentally, Drake was busy with the Anita Max Wynn Tour in Melbourne on the same day of Lamar’s performance. As of now, Drake has not made any comments about the performance.

Jill Smoller bio

Jill Smoller is an American sports agent and former professional tennis player who was born on September 4, 1964. She is currently 60 years old and is widely considered a pioneer for women sports agents. Jill famously worked as the former agent for Serena Williams. Details about her relationship status aren’t known but she is believed to be single and unmarried.

Smoller entered the business after her own career on the court came to an early end due to a series of knee injuries and at the age of 12, the youngest of four children, Smoller left her home in Larchmont, NY to enroll in the Nick Bollettieri Tennis Academy in Florida. From there, she attended the University of Arizona, where she was an All-American, and went on to play professionally but by the time she was 26, Smoller called it quits on the sport she loved.

It was then that her other brother, who worked at Paramount Pictures in Los Angeles, who ended up making the connections that would pave the way for a future she had never thought to dream of.

Her first clients were Olympic gold medalist sprinter Florence Griffith Joyner and figure skater Katarina Witt and soon she added Dennis Rodman in the waning years of his iconic and chaotic career.

Career and profession

Prior to becoming a sports agent, Jill was a tennis player who competed in college tennis for the Arizona Wildcats. She later went on tour professionally and notably featured in the main draw of all four grand slam tournaments. After retiring from playing tennis, Jill Smoller started out her career as an agent back in the late 1990s. Over the years, she has had numerous clients, most notably Allyson Felix and Serena Williams.

During her time with Serena, Jill Smoller helped her finalize deals with various companies like Nike and Gatorade. She was a member of ICM Athletics and represented a lot of athletes during her time there. Back in April 2001, Jill became the head of the sports and entertainment division of William Morris Endeavor Entertainment.

Smoller has represented influential female athletes across sports from her first client, the late Olympic gold medalist Florence Griffith Joyner, to her signing of top American tennis player Danielle Collins. Smoller is best known as the longtime agent to tennis star Serena Williams and has negotiated industry-leading deals for her with major corporations, including Nike, Gatorade and DirecTV. Smoller’s star clients include Allyson Felix, the most decorated U.S. track athlete ever; No. 1 WNBA Draft pick Sabrina Ionescu; and Olympic gold medalist hurdler Sydney McLaughlin.

Jill Smoller joined the William Morris Agency as VP, Sports Marketing and her clients included Ashley Harkleraod, Pete Sampras, Serena Williams and sportscasters Tim Ryan and Rick Fox. She was previously with AMG, Mike Ovitz’s company, and prior to AMG, she was with ICM and handled representation for athletes and sports figures in motion picture, television, commercial, licensing, broadcast and sponsorship deals at WMA.

Smoller joined William Morris Endeavor Entertainment (WME) in April 2001 as head of the sports and entertainment division, a then-new line of business and spearheaded their sports marketing efforts.
She was instrumental in signing Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex, to WME’s client roster in April 2023.
