According to a tragic Instagram post by his wife Jenna Dramise, 31-year-old US skier Kyle Smaine was apparently killed in an avalanche in Japan

When the awful news broke, the American freestyle skier was on the final day of a promotional tour for Ikon Pass and Nagano Tourism.

It has been reported that Kyle and another Austrian skier, whose name has not been made public, was caught in the avalanche. Rescuers arrived and tried to revive Kyle and the other skier, but they were both later deemed unresponsive.

Jenna Dramise is one of the most exciting up-and-coming snowboarders. This rider placed second at the Women’s Snowboard Halfpipe Finals and is now entering the professional circuit. Her Instagram bio says that she is a South Lake Tahoe local and budding cyclist.

Dramise took to Instagram to break the news of her husband Kyle Smaine’s death to the world first. The officials said that Smaine and the Australian skier were two of the thirteen people killed in the avalanche. However, officials have not made information about the fatalities public. While Dramise’s DOB isn’t known, she is aged between 25-30 years.

Kyle Smaine was married to Jenna Dramise in the year 2022 and two months after they wed, skier Kyle Smaine’s wife is still in mourning over his passing. Jenna posted a slideshow of pictures of herself and her late spouse on Instagram and remarked, “and could never blame you for doing what you loved,” knowing her husband had the finest runs of his life while he was in Japan.

The 31-year-old travelled with a group of skiers and photographers, among them American top skier Adam Ü. The crown of this particular avalanche was two metres in length.

In 2015, Kyle Smaine competed in and won the gold medal at the FIS Alpine World Ski Championships. He was the U.S. Alpine Skiing Team’s first alternate for the 2018 Olympics.

For many years, skiers looked up to Kyle Smaine as a kind of mythical figure. He earned his degree with a 3.95 grade point average from Sierra Nevada College (now University of Nevada) in May of 2014. At the 2016 X Games in Aspen, he competed in the Men’s Ski SuperPipe and placed ninth among rookies.

Kyle Smaine enjoys other sports as well

He enjoyed doing things like mountain biking, rock climbing, and surfing in his spare time. Smaine stated his aspiration to become the top skier in the world in an interview in 2014. According to him, big mountain skiing is something he’s always wanted to do.

Smaine claimed that the Sierra Nevada at Tahoe was his go-to spot for ski training. He explained that after realising how challenging it would be to be a professional skier for the rest of his life, he decided to take advantage of every moment.
