The Sun reports that United scouts have seen Kubo play for La Liga team Real Sociedad seven times already this season, including last weekend’s 0-0 draw against Real Betis, when he was named Man of the Match. The Basque team would take a bid for Kubo that was around £43 million ($54 million).

Takefusa Kubo, best known by Take Kubo, was born on June 4, 2001 in Kawasaki, Kanagawa, Japan. The 22-year-old stands 1.73 m (5 ft 8 in) tall.
A look at Takefusa Kubo’s career
Kubo is a right winger in the Japanese professional football league who plays for both the Japan national team and Real Sociedad in La Liga. Takefusa Kubo began playing football at the age of seven for FC Persimmon before switching to a local team in his hometown of Kawasaki.
The Japanese was chosen to play in the Sodexo European Rusas Cup, which took place in Belgium in April 2010, as a member of the FC Barcelona School squad. Takefusa Kubo passed the trial and was asked to join FC Barcelona’s youth academy, La Masia, in August 2011. He started up at Barca Aleví C (U11).
Kubo joined FC Tokyo U-18 team in 2016. At fifteen, he received a promotion to the senior side in September 2016. He made his first-team debut in the J.League YBC Levain Cup on May 3rd, playing 25 minutes in a 1-0 victory over Hokkaido Consadole Sapporo.
He signed a half-year loan with Yokohama F. Marinos on August 16, 2018. Kubo inked a five-year contract with Real Madrid, a Spanish team, on June 14, 2019. He was supposed to play primarily for Real Madrid B in the 2019–20 season, despite being registered with their U–19 squad.
On August 22, 2019, Kubo began a season-long loan to RCD Mallorca. In 2020 he went on loan to Villareal then Getafe and returned to Mallorca on loan in 2021. Kubo, the first Japanese player to sign for Real Sociedad on a permanent basis, doing so on July 19, 2022.
Kubo boasts a wealth of international experience, having represented Japan at the FIFA U-20 World Cup in 2017 at the age of 15, and been called up to the 2019 Copa America at the age of 18.
He made his senior debut in June 2019, five days after turning eighteen, and scored in his home country’s 2020 Olympic Games. He also participated in the 2022 FIFA World Cup, helping Japan stun Germany and Spain in the group stages.
Takefusa Kubo’s style of play
A 2022 analysis by Breaking the Lines highlighted Kubo’s ability to play as an attacking midfielder or forward, cutting inside from that flank with his left foot and finding deft passes when in possession. Kubo is also skilled at playing as a support striker and drifting out to the right.
