Apart from the jokes, a lot of fans were genuinely interested in learning who the mysterious Orlando Magic No. 62 was. It is a Latvian basketball player named Janis Timma. He now participates for the Grises de Humacao Puerto Rico Baloncesto Superior National team (BSN).
In reality, the image in question was taken in 2021 and is not a recent photograph. The now-30-year-old Timma participated in the Magic’s preseason Las Vegas Summer League game that year.
Timma ended with 11 points, six rebounds, two blocks, a steal, and his first Summer League game. But because of his uncommon features at the time, he rose to fame.
Timma was chosen by the Memphis Grizzlies with the 60th overall pick in the 2013 NBA Draft. Before travelling to Europe to play in the Baltic League and Latvian League, he didn’t stay in the league for very long.
