Dallas Cowboys veteran and Hall of Famer Larry Allen left behind his wife, Janelle, and three children when he unexpectedly passed away on June 2 while on vacation in Mexico with his family.
The NFL posted condolences on X Monday, stating, “The NFL family is deeply saddened by the passing of Hall of Famer, Super Bowl Champion and Cowboys legend, Larry Allen.
In the 1994 NFL Draft, Allen was selected by the Cowboys with the 46th overall pick. He spent his final two seasons as a player with the San Francisco 49ers (2006–07). To commemorate the first 100 years of the league, he was chosen for the NFL’s 100 best players squad in 2019.

Allen bench pressed 700 pounds and squatted 900 pounds, making him the strongest athlete to ever play in the NFL, according to the Cowboys.
Coming from a modest school background, he began his collegiate career at Butte Junior collegiate in Oroville, California, before transferring to Division II Sonoma State, which is located close to San Francisco. This led to an incredible climb to NFL stardom.
In his 203 career games, Allen started as right guard for the Dallas Cowboys in Super Bowl XXX, when they defeated the Pittsburgh Steelers 27–17. The Dallas Cowboys’ Ring of Honour bears Allen’s name.
