Jakub Vadlejch, a Czech track and field athlete who was born on October 10, 1990, participates in the javelin throw. The 32-year-old measures 1.90 m (6 ft 3 in). He competed for the Czech Republic in the Olympics three times, in 2012, 2016 and 2020. In 2020, he took home a silver medal.

Vadlejch, a Prague native, started competing in international javelin events when he was a young child, making it to the finals at the 2007 World Youth Championships in Athletics, the 2008 World Junior Championships in Athletics, and the 2009 European Athletics Junior Championships.


He then made his senior debut at the 2010 European Athletics Championships, throwing just in qualifying. In the javelin throw competition at the 2012 Summer Olympics, he finished 25th with a distance of 77.61 metres.

At the 2011 World Athletics Championships, 2014 European Athletics Championships, and 2015 World Athletics Championships, he was disqualified in the preliminary round. 2016 marked Vadlejch’s breakthrough season. In addition to finishing eighth in the 2016 Summer Olympics final, he won the 2016 IAAF Diamond League circuit.


He achieved a new personal best of 89.73 m (294 ft 4 2 in) at the 2017 World Championships, winning the silver medal.
