The mother of the boy, Sarah Kelly reportedly abused by Manchester United star Cristiano Ronaldo has revealed that her son has been left shaken by the event and that he may not attend another game as a result.
Following the 1-0 defeat to Everton at Goodison Park, footage on social media appeared to show Ronaldo smashing an object – possibly a phone – out of a supporter’s hand as he limped down the tunnel.

According to the Liverpool ECHO, Sarah Kelly took her 14-year-old son Jake Harding to Goodison Park for the first time to watch his side play, and the day started off perfectly with Anthony Gordon’s goal handing the Blues a much-needed three points in their fight against relegation.

Jake and Sarah were sitting in the Park End, near to the tunnel where both home and away players pass through at the conclusion of the game. Images showed an angry Ronaldo snatching an object from a fan’s grip, prompting the 37-year-old to apologise on social media.
Sarah informed the Liverpool ECHO that the phone belonged to her son Jake, and that Ronaldo had struck him and injured his hand with her further revealing that 14 year old Jake was suffering from autism. She stated that Man United players began walking off at the end of the game. They were in Park End, so they were right next to the tunnel where players walked by, and her son was filming all the players.
Her son recorded all of the United players as they walked through. Then he put down his phone because Ronaldo’s sock had come undone and his leg was bleeding. He didn’t even talk as he dropped his phone to see what it was.
“It’s never easy to deal with emotions at difficult moments like the one they’re facing,” Ronaldo wrote on Instagram. Nonetheless, they must always be respectful, patient, and set an example for all of the young people who enjoy this wonderful game. He apologised for his reaction. Moreover, if feasible, he’d want to invite that fan to see a game at Old Trafford as a gesture of fairness and sportsmanship.
Officers are actively working with Everton Football Club to assess CCTV footage and conduct thorough witness interviews in order to determine if a crime has occurred.
