The investigation concerning the social media footage was started by the Lenoir City Police Department on November 2, 2022, and the arrest follows.
Authorities claimed that Jacob Yerkes posted the videos on YouTube and other websites.
After Viral TikTok Videos, Jacob Yerkes Is In Custody
According to the report, a man named Jacob Yerkes aged 25 according to him was detained after an investigation was done “regarding threats” to a coworker. A police report was made public by the Loudon County Sheriff’s Office on Tuesday, November 8, 2022.
In a statement from the Loudon County Sheriff’s Office, police reported that the inquiry “found that Mr Yerkes was making unsolicited contact with his coworker.” The authorities confirmed that Yerkes posted footage on various social media sites, including YouTube and Twitter. He is still being held as of this writing on suspicion of severe stalking and harassment.
The police report stated in a statement, “This is an ongoing investigation, and more charges are conceivable. At this point, the general population is not under any new threat. We want to thank all authorities engaged for their ongoing work on this inquiry.”
As per the police report, the arrest is the result of a combined investigation with the Lenoir City Police Department after both agencies learned about the social media footage that is rapidly shared and viewed on various digital platforms.
The Joint Terrorism Task Force of the Federal Bureau of Inquiry is also involved in the investigation. Authorities stated that there is still an investigation going on and that additional charges may be filed. After the videos went viral, the Knoxville Police Department posted a link to the police report on its official Twitter account. Meanwhile, further investigation is being carried out by the authorities.
