His real name is Seán William McLoughlin. He was born at Portiuncula University Hospital, Ballinasloe, Ireland, on 7 February 1990. His father’s name is John McLoughlin, and his mother’s name is Florrie McLoughlin. He has four siblings.
Jacksepticeye attended Limerick Institute of Technology to study music technology and production after finishing high school. He made the decision to leave his degree program in his third year and go back to Ballycumber. In 2014, he relocated to Athlone, County Westmeath, where he attended the Athlone College of Technology to study hotel management and achieve a Bachelor of Arts (Honors) degree.

In December 2012, Jacksepticeye started his YouTube career by experimenting with voice impressions before moving on to gaming-related videos. He rose from 2,500 to 15,000 followers in only four days after PewDiePie mentioned him in 2013.
In July of that year, his channel had amassed over 57 million views and 800,000 subscribers, and it finally surpassed a million subscribers in August. With 3.2 million subscribers, his channel passed the one billion views milestone in February 2015.
