Who Is Jack Sweeney?
Jack Sweeney is an American student, social media enthusiast, programmer, and entrepreneur. He has been in the news because he was recently banned by Twitter.
He is a student at the University of Central Florida where he was studying Information technology.
He created Twitter bots as a teenager to track and disclose the positions of the private aircraft of a number of people, including Drake, Elon Musk, Jeff Bezos, Mark Zuckerberg, and Bill Gates.
His application makes advantage of open data sources including the Automatic Dependent Surveillance-Broadcast, OpenSky Network, and the Federal Aviation Administration. He started the “Elon Musk’s Jet” Twitter account in June 2020 with the intention of deploying scraping bots to track Musk’s personal aircraft.
Jack Sweeney is currently 20 years old with his net worth at $500,000.
Why Was He Recently Suspended From Twitter?
The ElonJet account was removed from Twitter, provoking numerous internet arguments, especially when his other flight monitoring accounts were not taken down.
A New York Times reporter named Ryan Mac contacted Sweeney to get more information on the ban. While this was going on, Twitter suspended all of Sweeney’s other accounts, including his personal one.
Ryan did point out that earlier this week, Sweeney posted an unconfirmed screenshot of a chat in Slack that appeared to show Twitter’s director of Trust and Safety requesting that the account be given a tag that will limit its visibility.

After careful review, we determined your account broke the Twitter rules. Your account is permanently suspended.
Many Twitter users draw attention to the fact that Musk earlier declared he would leave the account alone. On November 6, Musk stated in a tweet:
My commitment to free speech extends even to not banning the account following my plane, even though that is a direct personal safety risk.
As a result of this, Musk has been trolled mercilessly on social media.
