He further wrote:

He also included that anย important turning point in the sport is her work as the Women’s Premier League pitch supervisor, which emphasises how Indian cricket is changing.

Who is Jacintha Kalyan?

Jacintha Kalyan, born in Harobele, is a Bengaluru native who has created history by being the first female pitch curator in India. The 49-year-old is now in charge of the Bengaluru phase of the WPL 2024 as the principal pitch curator.

Jacintha was asked to handle some man management of the groundsmen in 2014 by Brijesh (Patel) sir, the KSCA Secretary at the time. Her adjustment to the post took about six months as per what she toldย The Indian Express.ย

Since then, she learned the art of preparing pitches and now, during the opening round of the current WPL 2024 at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru, she is honing the duty of the pitch. Jacintha has over thirty years of experience with the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA). After working as a receptionist at KSCA, she was promoted to administrator.

She had been in charge of the pitch setups in Pondicherry, Goa, and Kerala during the current Ranji Trophy round when she received the call to oversee the same at the WPL.

Jacintha’s early years were marked by financial difficulties since she was raised by a paddy farmer.

Jacintha has a unique connection to the earth in many ways. She assisted her father in the paddy fields as a child while living in Halobele. Years after her father’s death, she continues to grow paddy on a portion of their farmland.
