Inter are in a good position to sign Mateo Retegui, a Tigre and Italy striker, after pursuing him for more than a year.
The Nerazzurri have reportedly been interested in a move for Retegui for some time even though it would no longer be a cheap transaction given his rise to fame with the Italian national team, according to FCInterNews, which cites today’s print edition of the Milan-based publication Gazzetta dello Sport.

Retegui was first identified by Inter Assistant Sporting Director Dario Baccin while on a scouting trip to South America, and there has surely been increased interest in the player given that the 23-year-old is a teammate of Inter striker Facundo Colidio while on loan at Tigre.
According to the Gazzetta article, Inter has long expressed a real desire to sign Retegui.
According to the newspaper, the Tigre striker has been considered as a potential replacement for Joaquin Correa in the Nerazzurri’s lineup.

Mateo Retegui, a forward for Tigre of the Argentine Premier League on loan from Boca Juniors, was born on April 29, 1999. He was born in Argentina and plays for the Italy national team. He is 1.86 m (6 ft 1 in) tall.
