When Israeli swimmer Anastasia Gorbenko finished second in the women’s 400-meter individual medley on Sunday at the World Aquatics Championships in Doha, Qatar, she was heckled by the spectators, as reported in CNN.

The jeers broke out at the Aspire Dome in Doha while 20-year-old Gorbenko was being interviewed following the race. As she ascended the podium during the medal presentation, she was jeered once more, which made her sigh. The jeers were partially muffled by applause and cheers from other members of the crowd.

Who is Anastasia Gorbenko?
Anastasia “Nastiya” Gorbenko is a swimmer who was born on August 7, 2003, in Haifa, Israel. She received her training at the Wingate Institute in Netanya, and her major was biology at Hof HaSharon High School in Kibbutz Shefayim. The height of the 18 year old isn’t known.
A look at Anastasia Gorbenko’s career so far
The 20-year-old participates in many events such as the 100-meter backstroke, 100-meter breaststroke, 100-meter freestyle, 200-meter backstroke, 200-meter breaststroke, 200-meter medley, 50-meter backstroke, 4-by-100-meter freestyle, 4-by-100-meter medley, and 4-by-200-meter freestyle.
At four years old, Gorbenko started artistic gymnastics. She also enrolled in swimming class a few years later and took to the sport right away. When it came time for her to decide between swimming and artistic gymnastics, Anastasia went with swimming as per The Jerusalem Post.
Considered the best swimmer in Israeli history, she has competed in two Olympic finals, won four gold medals at World and European championships, and broken most of the national records for women and mixed relays.

Anastasia Gorbenko was born to Larisa, her mother and her father Vladimir Gorbenko, a computer expert. It is said that he used to be a volleyball player and a swimmer himself. Her parents had migrated to Israel from Ukraine. Gorbenko has two more sisters, one elder and a younger one.
