Kapil Raj, an Enforcement Directorate (ED) officer has emerged into the spotlight for detaining two prominent chief ministers, Arvind Kejriwal of Delhi and Hemant Soren of Jharkhand, in separate cases.
Kapil Raj who is known for his sharp investigative skills has been at the forefront of several high-profile cases during his tenure with the ED. Two months had passed since Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren was taken into custody in a separate PMLA case involving a purported land fraud.

Just two months prior the arrest of Arvind Kejriwal, Kapil Raj was involved in the arrest of Jharkhand CM Hemant Soren in another case related to an alleged land scam. Soren, who resigned as CM just before his arrest was taken into custody following six hours of interrogation. Like Kejriwal, Soren had also skipped multiple summons before being detained.
Kapil Raj, a 2009 batch IRS officer, hails from Uttar Pradesh and has a background in engineering. He completed his engineering from a college in Lucknow.
Kapil Raj joined the Enforcement Directorate seven years ago and has since been involved in several high-profile cases. Notably, during his tenure in Mumbai, he was part of the team investigating the case of fugitive billionaires Nirav Modi and Mehul Choksi, as well as the Punjab National Bank case. Earlier a Joint Director in the ED, he has now been made Additional Director in charge of high profile cases.
